The production version of McMurtry's electric single-seater gets a 100 kWh battery, new motors and an active fan system built for extreme track use.

McMurtry's tiny fan-assisted electric track car is moving from prototype legend to customer product. Electrive reported on July 7 that the production Speirling Pure has been unveiled with a larger 100 kWh battery, new electric motors and a redesigned fan system.

A different kind of EV performance

Most performance EVs rely on power and traction control. The McMurtry adds something stranger: active fan downforce that works even at low speed. Electrive reports that the production version is claimed to generate up to 2,000 kg of downforce and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 1.55 seconds.

The company says around 95 percent of the components were newly developed compared with earlier record-setting prototypes. The new Helix motors are expected to deliver around 745 kW in parallel, and a single charge is intended to support 40 to 50 km of track running at LMP2-like pace.

Why it belongs on EVRadar

The Speirling Pure is not a normal buyer's car, with a reported base price of 1.15 million euros before taxes. Its relevance is technical. It shows how EV packaging, thermal management, high-power discharge and aero systems can create performance that combustion cars cannot easily copy.

Note

Track EVs are expensive laboratories. The useful lessons are often heat rejection, battery durability and power electronics, not the headline 0-60 time.

Extreme cars rarely translate directly into family EVs, but they do pull technology forward. If McMurtry can make repeated high-power laps manageable, it helps prove that electric performance can be sustained, not only demonstrated for one launch-control run.
