Wheelbase is the distance between the front and rear axles. It is one of the best quick clues for cabin space and ride stability. It matters only when it survives real use: people inside, bags in the boot, cables stored somewhere, doors opening wide enough and the loaded car staying within legal weight.
How to compare it
Longer wheelbase usually helps rear legroom and high-speed calm. Shorter wheelbase often helps manoeuvrability and city parking.
