The story

Founded in 2015 by Zhu Jiangming, a co-founder of Dahua Technology, Leapmotor emerged from Hangzhou with an electronics-first philosophy, building cars with full vertical integration. Rather than operating as a traditional manufacturer assembling supplier hardware, Leapmotor constructs its own electric drives, battery structural packaging, and automated software architecture in-house. A seismic shift occurred in late 2023 when Stellantis invested โ‚ฌ1.5 billion to form 'Leapmotor International' (a 51:49 joint venture controlled by Stellantis), gaining exclusive rights to manufacture and export Leapmotor vehicles globally through Stellantis' massive distribution and service networks.
