The story

Arcfox is a premium electric vehicle brand launched by BAIC Group in 2016, with design and engineering support from Magna Steyr. The brand name combines ‘Arctic’ and ‘Fox’, reflecting intelligence, adaptability, and a cool, modern aesthetic. It focuses on high-performance, smart EVs and made its European debut at IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich, opening orders in several European markets in 2024.

The brand name Arcfox is derived from ‘Arctic Fox’, symbolising intelligence, adaptability, and clean minimalism.

Arcfox’s vehicle platform was developed in collaboration with Magna Steyr, the same engineering firm behind the Mercedes G-Class and Jaguar I-PACE.

The Alpha S5 was designed under the ‘Born Free’ philosophy, with a drag coefficient of just 0.1925 Cd, one of the lowest in its class.

Battery & platform DNA

Arcfox equips the Alpha S5 with a choice of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) and nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery packs supplied by CATL and SK On. The top 79.2 kWh variant uses an 800 V silicon carbide (SiC) platform enabling ultra-fast charging from 10% to 80% in around 15 minutes, while the smaller packs offer fast 400 V charging. Intelligent battery thermal management and pre-conditioning contribute to real-world range consistency.
