950 km motorway trip: charging curve mattered more than peak kW

Did a 950 km motorway trip this weekend, mostly 118-125 km/h, 22 C, two adults and luggage.

The car peaked at 215 kW, but what mattered was holding above 150 kW for a useful part of the session. The best stops were 14-58% and 18-64%, not forcing 80% every time.

Trip planners still explain this badly to new EV drivers.

Exactly. People ask "how long to 80%" but the fastest trip is often several shorter sessions. If the next charger is reliable, 55-65% departure SOC can be perfect.

This is why we want route examples beside raw charging specs. A car with a lower peak can still make better time if the curve, efficiency and navigation logic are strong.

I kept notes from ABRP and charger receipts. Happy to format them if EVRadar starts accepting route submissions.
